Biography:
Adam L. Perkins is the CEO of Taplets, Inc., a nonprofit organization specializing in literacy, diversity and technology advancement. A brilliant, engaging, and informative speaker, Mr. Perkins provides view points on race in America rarely discussed in an effort to provide the best possible understanding on the subject. His personal life changing experiences with racism has allowed him to bring a much needed perspective on this subject. With more than 30 years of extensive exploration, passion and personal experiences he has proven to be an effective and competent speaker on race related issues as well as technology consulting.

Perkins is an honor graduate of Winston Salem State University. There he received his BA in Psychology.  He is also an ordained Elder.  He began his prize-winning aspiration in high school by competing in technical writing contests. In college he served as an active orator on race-related issues.

Perkins is also the author of Looking over Black Shoulders [ISBN: 0-9793927-1-3], a book that provides such an eye-opening perspective [literally] on the subject of race that it has been compared to John Howard Griffin's Black Like Me.  Perkins recounts history. White Americans are racism's primary target. Black Americans are in control of this new land called America. The book asks the question, "What if African Americans were the ones in control of America 150 years ago and whites were the ones enslaved?" Many blacks and whites are convinced that "Looking over Black Shoulders" is the definitive book on the issue of race for this century.

Perkins believes that higher institutions of learning must be more engaging and inclusive on the subject of racism. "We now have a tool by which racism can be presented more equally as a humanitarian issue and not inadvertently just as a black issue."

Perkins insists that bringing people together across racial lines is possible, but only if they are ready to change. He believes when we all find racism offensive, then we will make progress in minimizing its societal effects. Thus, he lectures across the country introducing a new psychology of racism that has revealed the bridge to America's racism issue.

Perkins has also served in the US Military, beginning his career as an enlisted man. He excelled academically and was later accepted into the Virginia Military Academy where he was the only African American to matriculate as a commissioned officer in his class.

Perkins utilizes enduring integrity and forthright appeal to authoritatively engage his audience. He has been guest speaker at various churches, colleges, national talk shows such as Let's Talk Honestly, Valder Beebe Show, WYAL, and Jesse Lee Peterson Radio Show to name a few.

He is part owner of Positive Prints Professional Services, a publishing and video production company that produces customized videos and training tutorials. As a qualified technology consultant, Adam provides cutting-edge technology innovation to numerous mental health agencies and other small businesses. He trains organizations to use technology to optimize their office system so they too can be more efficient.

Perkins resides in North Carolina with his wife, Sharon, Executive Director of Taplets, Inc. and their three sons.

Adam's passion is people and that same passion reverberates through his lectures. Powerful. Passionate. Purposeful. Perkins.
