Biography:
Rev. Harold E. Bailey, was born in
Chicago, Illinois, to Adolphus Sr. and Lillian
Bailey.
After
completing the Chicago Public School System,
he attended: Wilson Jr. College, Central State
University, Chicago State University and Governor
State University. Bailey did become a professional
student.
In
earlier years he was known for his musical contributions
with the "Harold Bailey" Singers,
who recorded for the Rush, HOB and Savoy labels.
Bailey traveled the United States with his group
pioneering Gospel music in the late 50's through
the early 70's.
Bailey
entered the criminal justice system, as a Probation
Officer, and became the personal probation officer
to Judge R. Eugene Pincham, and there he founded
the now noted . . . Probation Challenge.
Probation
Challenge is the FIRST court mandated program
of its kind in the country where clients are
forced to help themselves through the channels
of education. A vision of Bailey, the program
is created for the express purpose of serious
rehabilitation. School or Jail! He has been
the subject of local and national media, and
has been awarded and honored as far away as
Israel for his contributions in the field of
criminal justice.
Harold
Bailey has traveled throughout the State of
Illinois to a large number of prisons, speaking
to individuals regarding the subject crime and
rehabilitation through the vehicle of education
and spirituality.
Rev.
Bailey was licensed to the Gospel Ministry in
1968 and ordained in 1972.
Rev.
Harold E. Bailey, was the first person to implement
a "Peace" initiative, via a Peace
Summit held in Montigo Bay, Jamaica. The Summit
drew over 200 delegates and their families.
Bailey,
is author of The Criminal Justice System. He
has served 14 years as member and chairman of
the Chicago/Cook County Board of Corrections.
Bailey
served 14-years as a Chicago/Cook County Adult
Probation Officer.
Bailey
is founder of The Harold Bailey Singers who
recorded for the RUSH and Savoy labels.
