Reverend
Dr. J. Gentile Everett
Will Is Greater
Than Skill
Organization:
Mill
Branch Baptist Church
Location:
Fairmont, North Carolina
Website: N/A |
Biography:
Between the commencement of the Vietnam
War and the death of Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr., his inspiration, was born this preacher’s
preacher and motivational orator. Reverend Dr.
Everett, overcame tremendous obstacles to excel
and he believes as a result of his early influence
of his grandfather Reverend Jesse Everett, Sr.
and his pertinacious faith in God the obstacles
were presented to him as stages of preparation
for the work he was to do.
Childhood
sickness in which doctors contended he would
have learning disabilities and physical limitations
did not in any way deter the budding will in
this young man. He always believed that there
was innate greatness in him. He believes there
is greatness in all God’s creation. With
this will, drive and faith in God he has been
able to reach so many of the lofty goals to
which he has inspired.
The
prognosticated learning disability he would
likely have was transformed into his graduating
valedictorian of his high school class. The
physical limitations he supposedly would have
was morphed into basketball notoriety as he
turned down basketball scholarships from Division
I schools. He was always driven by the notion
“if someone has done it, it can be done,
and if nobody has, I may as well be the first.”
He has authored “When God Speaks, I Listen”,
and “Salvation: The Key To Church Order”,
and is currently completing “How He Works”.
From
the humble roots of a place called “Cross
the Creek” in Laurinburg, North Carolina,
which was known for its dirt roads, pit black
nights because of an apparent lack of illumination,
and the 70s life which seemed to exist in its
primitive essence, Reverend Dr. Everett believed
that God allowed him to experience these times
early in his life in order that he might be
able to reach others who perhaps had doubts
about the brightness of their future.
He was blessed to have sober, sound parents
who held high the banner of education and faith
which he always reminds his congregants that
parenting serves as a basis for moral and spiritual
values.
He
is a connoisseur of elegant and opulent living,
and contends that class and dignity should never
be compromised. He is the Senior Pastor of the
Mill Branch Baptist Church of Fairmont, North
Carolina. He was recently featured on the cover
of “Church World News Magazine”.
He is married to the Reverend Joan A. Everett,
who serves of Co-Pastor of the ministry.
Reverend
Dr. Everett received his higher education from
the North Carolina A&T State University,
Greensboro, St. Andrews Presbyterian College,
Laurinburg, North Carolina, completed his theological
work at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary,
Wake Forest, NC.
