Biography:
Jam Donaldson is a writer, producer,
cultural critic and attorney. She is well-known
for creating the popular website Hotghettomess.com
and being the Executive Producer of the BET
television show "We Got To Do Better"
which was based on her website. She has written
for the Keyshia Cole "The Way It Is"
show on BET and she currently is a writer and
Editor-in-Chief for the daily online magazine
Blackpower.com. Her blog "Conversate Is
Not A Word" was nominated for Best Cultural
Blog of the Year.
Before
her work on the internet, Jam Donaldson was
an attorney for Legal Aid representing low-income
residents of Washington, DC in civil matters.
She has won two public service awards and was
granted the Frederick B. Abramson Fellowship
for Public Service in 2005.
Jam
Donaldson is a student favorite and has been
invited to speak at Stanford, Wooster, Howard
University, Winston-Salem University, Virginia
tech and numerous others. In her trademark style
filled with humor, candor and edgy wit, she
speaks on issues of race, hip hop culture and
the media.She has also appeared as a political
and cultural pundit for NPR's "Tell Me
More With Michel Martin," "The Anthony
McCarthy Show," and others. She has been
interviewed for CNN, BBC, The New York Post,
The Washington Post and others. A true media
darling, she received Radar Magazine's New Radical
Award for 2007. She recently appeared as a commentator
on VH-1's "100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of
All Time."
She is based in DC and travels across the country.
She is a graduate of Georgetown University Law
Center.
