Biography:
Jeffery A. Faulkerson is the Founder,
President & CEO of PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS,
a faith-based social service practice with for-profit
offerings in communications/media relations
and nonprofit offerings in parent education
and support, postsecondary advising and planning,
and conference planning, coordination and implementation.
A stay-at-home parent since August 2005, he
has dedicated himself to "promoting functional
families through words and deeds."
Following
the release of his book Raising My V.O.I.C.E.
(Verbalizing Orderly Impressions through Creative
Endeavors), Faulkerson was featured on
several radio programs, including Drybuzz.com
(Atlanta, Georgia), The Sports Mavericks Show
with Ida Muorie (Orlando, Florida), Morning
Coffee with Tracy and Friends (Youngstown, Ohio)
and Thinking Out Loud with Carl Swann (Tri-Cities,
Tennessee) Raising My V.O.I.C.E chronicles his
16-year quest to understand why Americans focus
so much on their differences, not enough of
their similarities. It also serves as a clarion
call for contemporary Christians for take a
much firmer stance for Jesus.
Faulkerson’s
other writing credits include feature and sports
articles and columns published in the Daily
Beacon, Knoxville Journal, Oak Ridger and MEOA
News. He currently writes a bi-monthly column,
FIRM…but fair, for the online publication
Keeping Family First.
Jeffery
A. Faulkerson graduated from the University
of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1998 with his Masters
of Science degree in Social Work Management
and Community Practice. During his years of
study at UTK, he also completed 24 credit hours
of classes in Communications/Public Relations
through the College of Communications.
Faulkerson
has over 16 years of professional experience
in nonprofit administration and direct service
delivery to children and their families. From
2001-2005, he served as the Director of Youth
Opportunities Upheld, Inc.’s Bruce Wells
Scholars TRIO Upward Bound Program in Worcester,
Massachusetts. He oversaw a long-term federal
grant allocation that made it possible for he
and his staff to offer pre-college services
to 70 low-income, first-generation (to attend
college) and disabled high school students.
Faulkerson
is the Past President (serving two consecutive
terms) of the Massachusetts Educational Opportunity
Association (MEOA) (www.meoaonline.org), which
advocates on the local and state levels for
disadvantaged secondary students desiring a
postsecondary education. He has also written
and/or participated in the writing of successful
letters and grant proposals submitted to private
and public funding sources.
Faulkerson
has worked for state social service departments
in Tennessee and Massachusetts, being responsible
for the assessment and placement of children
and adolescents in foster homes, group homes,
residential treatment facilities and juvenile
detention centers. He also served as the Staff
Development Coordinator in the Human Resources
Department of a large social service agency
in Tennessee.
