Biography:
Jimmy Davies is the founder and CEO
of MacMasters Computer Services, a computer
training and technology company founded in 1988
that specializes in customized database development
and managing data over the Internet.
Clients
have include; NASA/Langley Research Center,
The US Army, The US Navy, The US Marines, Lockheed,
Apple Computer, Inc., Jefferson Laboratories,
General Dynamics, Kinko's, The College of William
& Mary, DuPont, General Electric, The US
Coast Guard, Hampton University, SAS, Duke Medical
University, SunTrust Bank and Signet Bank.
As
a public speaker, Davies stresses the importance
of embracing the information age and has provided
the following presentations; “African
Americans in the Telecommunications Age”
for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation,
Inc., Washington D.C., “The Benefits of
Technology on The African American Community,
An Historical Perspective” at the Black
Summit Conference, Raleigh North Carolina, “African
Americans and the Information Highway”
at the Sickle Cell Anemia Conference; "The
Information Highway and Business Implications”,
in Norfolk, VA, and presenter at the Internet
- Future Technology, Business, and Web Conference,
Norfolk, VA as well as many others engagements.
Mr.
Davies is also the owner of unifyourpeople.com,
an online directory of African American organizations
and a service to assist them with obtaining
web sites. In addition he has served as a technology
columnist for the Newport News, VA based, "Oyster
Pointer" business magazine and for the
national publication, "MultiCultural Review",
on Internet related topics.
Mr.
Davies holds a B.S. in Mathematics, an A.A.S.
in Science, and an A.A.S. In Surveying and Topographical
Drafting, all from Ferris State University,
Big Rapids, Michigan. He is member of Phi Beta
Sigma Fraternity, Inc., competes in chess tournaments
through the U.S. Chess Federation and currently
resides in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
