Biography:
Lori Nelson is a graduate of Howard University, and has earned a Masters degree from the University of Maryland University College. After six years of working as an I.T. project manager, Nelson decided to take a leap of faith and follow her dreams. She started Nelson Publishing, LLC, an independent publishing company dedicated to providing juvenile books for children of color.

Nelson Publishing, LLC is a family based independent publishing organization, dedicated to providing juvenile books for children of color. They are best known for the Hillary series, which introduces children to fundamental business and financial concepts.

The company was born after Nelson observed her mother's battles with mainstream publishing houses. She decided to create the company as a vehicle to share her written work, as well as the work of other talented authors who share in her vision. The vision is simple; to respond to the special needs and concerns of children and in doing so, strengthening families.

Nelson has currently published one children’s book titled Hillary’s Big Business Adventure, and plans to release three more books in 2008. Her long-term goal is to establish an African-American girl-power icon to generate more than $6.3 billion in retail sales, with more than 300 domestic licensees. She also plans to launch a production company to offer other family-themed movies, and television shows.

She is a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI), The Independent Book Publisher's Association, and the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE).
