Biography:
Dr. Mark A. Gooden is the owner and managing partner of Mark A. Gooden Consulting. He has worked 14 years as an engaging and effective educator and an inspiring speaker in the Pre-K-12 and higher education settings. He is also a leadership coach and trainer who has worked to help clients unlock individual potential. Currently, Dr. Gooden serves as Director and associate professor in the Educational Leadership and Urban Educational Leadership programs at the University of Cincinnati. He has also taught students ranging from the middle school level to advanced graduate level.

Dr. Gooden is an accomplished researcher and author who draws on these talents to build powerful, engaging, and challenging keynotes. His research interests include servant leadership, the efficacy of leadership coaching, issues in urban educational leadership, and legal issues in education. His most recent research appears in Education and Urban Society, School Business Affairs, The Journal of Negro Education and Educational Administration Quarterly. He is also a co-author of the best-selling Principal’s Legal Handbook.

Dr. Gooden received his Ph.D. in policy and leadership from The Ohio State University. He received his M.Ed. in mathematics education and M.A. in educational administration, both from The Ohio State University and he holds a B.A. in mathematics from Albany State College (now University). He also has completed post-secondary training at the College of Executive Coaching.

His list of clients include Cincinnati Public Schools, The Mayerson Academy, Albany State University, Greater Cincinnati Counseling Association, Women’s Alliance, UC Darwin T. Turner Scholars Program and the Black MBA Association. Additionally, he has coached leaders at Duke Energy, The Limited, and Cincinnati Public Schools, and various non-profit organizations.
