Biography:
Although blinded in early adulthood from a gunshot wound, Ricky V. Ward’s vision is clear: “To have safe, productive communities we must foster the mental well-being of our youth.” His mission is to provide constructive outlets for the motivation and education of youth at risk and their families.

Issuing The Call
Through motivational public speaking, Ricky V. Ward teaches and motivates young people, parents, educators, community leaders, and others to recognize and reduce the risk of violence. His passion for prevention was born out of his surviving a violent act. His ability to communicate with and motivate young people is enhanced by his background:

• Certification in conflict mediation
• Certification in drug and alcohol abuse prevention
• Street-smart experience interceding in high-risk situations
• Masters in Public Administration with a certification in Non-Profit Organizations. BA Sociology. Cleveland State University.

Responding to the Call
Through the Youth Outreach Hotline, youth and families in crisis are a phone call away from needed support.
• Networking with agencies and groups who work with youth at risk
• Guidance for teens involved in gangs or in danger of being recruited
• Referral and information about community resources for parents and families
• Encouragement to remain in school
• Encouragement and help finding part-time and full-time employment opportunities for youth
• One-on-one mentoring with youth
