Biography:
Toni Beckham is president and CEO of PR, et Cetera, Inc., a full-service public relations and marketing communications firm she established in 1999. The company serves the communications needs of small public and privately held companies, and non-profit organizations. Early on, Toni provided pro bono services to promote her company. One such promotion led to the acquisition of her first paying client, Tavis Smiley, author, civic activist, and then host of the widely popular nightly talk show “BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley.”

The credibility and notoriety she derived from representing Smiley enabled Toni to rapidly transform her entrepreneurial dream into a successful company whose services are highly sought-after by prominent and influential individuals and organizations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Included among the company’s ever-growing list of notable Bay Area clients are: National Coalition of 100 Black Woman – Oakland/Bay Area Chapter, 100 Black Men of Silicon Valley, Inc., AfroSolo Theatre Company, Bay Area Black United Fund, Inc., Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, Dr. Julia Hare, Dr. Brenda Wade and veteran news journalist Barbara Rodgers.

For eight years, Toni served as the face and voice of CityFlight Newsmagazine. The skills she developed, the contacts she made, and the excitement she experienced as the publication’s Corporate Communications Director ultimately led her to establish PR, et Cetera, Inc.

Well recognized as one who contributes to and advocates for her community, Toni is a recipient of the Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Community Service Award, presented by the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. in recognition and appreciation of her community volunteerism within the business environment; a certificate of recognition from California State Assemblyman Darrell Steinberg for outstanding contributions to business development and dedication to volunteerism; the KNTV NewsChannel 11 “Spirit of Excellence” Award in recognition of community service as a volunteer tutor; and the Diversity Spirit Achievement Award presented by The Diversity Recruiters Network.org and City Career Fair Productions for leadership and active support of diversity in the community and workplace.

Additionally, Toni is a literary contributor to the award-winning anthology "Gumbo for the Soul: the Recipe for Literacy in the Black Community” – a compilation of motivational poetry, essays, quotes, personal reflections and delicious gumbo recipes that benefits the Gumbo for the Soul literacy and scholarship referral programs.

Toni holds memberships in several national and Bay Area organizations, including National Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Public Relations Society of America - San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, Bay Area Black Journalist Association (BABJA) and San Jose/Silicon Valley NAACP. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Tracy African American Association, LLC, for which she holds the position of Chief Information Officer.

The Chicago native has resided in the San Francisco Bay Area for 34 years. Toni Beckham has two adult daughters and one very lovely and bright 15-year-old granddaughter.
